I need a really good vanilla frozen yogurt recipe?

I’ve looked all over online, but very few places have reviews of people that have tried recipes. I’ve tried about 3 different recipes, and this is the best I’ve come up with so far:

1. Strain a 4 cup (32oz) container of low fat yogurt
2. In a saucepan combine 1 packet gelatin , 1 – 1/4 cup whole milk and 3/4 cup sugar. Bring to simmer.
3. Cool gelatin mixture in refrigerator for about 2 hours
4. Add strained yogurt plus 1 Tbsp Vanilla Extract to mixture and mix with hand blender until smooth.
5. Prepare in Ice cream Maker.

This recipe is ok, but I have 3 problems with it:

1. Texture is kind of whipped/mouse like even after freezing (too much gelatin?) I am shooting for a nice smooth creamy texture (like Edy’s frozen yogurt).

2. Even with the gelatin, the yogurt is still fairly difficult to scoop after a night in the freezer.

3. Taste – Too much yogurt tang….I don’t mind it, but the people I make it for comment that it tastes far tangier than they would expect (Bad yogurt to milk ratio?)

Please help…I am looking for that 1 good basic frozen yogurt recipe that I can use to build other flavors off of.
