COCONUT BANANA ICE CREAM – Dairy free, no ice cream maker required
A great recipe I found on the blog, “Making Love In The Kitchen”, by holistic nutritionist Meghan Telpner. Super simple, and dairy-free. I made a double recipe in the video, and also forgot to add the vodka – so this batch froze pretty solid. If you find you ice cream is too hard to eat, just let it sit in a sink filled with hot water and it will thaw pretty quickly. I used plastic tupperware for storage here, but always use glass for food products if you can. COCONUT BANANA ICE CREAM 1 can full fat organic coconut milk 1/4 cup honey 1 large banana 2 tsp lemon juice 3 Tbs dried coconut 2 Tbs Vodka (Optional: Lowers freezing point, makes ice cream smoother) Plus any fruit of choice – berries, mango, pineapple etc. • Place banana, lemon juice and honey in a blender and process until well mashed. • Add coconut milk, dried coconut and optional vodka and blend again. Meghan Recommends: • Freeze in ice cube trays for 3 or more hours, reserving about a 1/2 cup in the fridge. • Place about 3 cubes per person into the food processor, add some of the non-frozen mix and process until smooth. I prefer to freeze it all, I find any left in the fridge spoils too quickly to be used. Recipe found here: meghantelpnerblog.com Song is: Magdalena by A Perfect Circle

*Food Curated* – MilkMade: NYC’s NEW Sustainable Ice Cream Makers, Hand-delivering to Your Door
Old school milk delivery gets a sweet face lift with the launch of MILKMADE: homemade, hand-delivered, small-batch ice cream with a focus on local, sustainable and seasonal ingredients. Meet the founders, or shall we say, “milk maids” Diana Hardeman and Michelle Truong as they meticulously create and prepare their two December flavors, in their newly rented commercial kitchen space, for the launch of their ice cream enthusiasts club in New York City. As they say, this may not be the most efficient way to run a business – by hand making ice cream and delivering it on foot to homes of eager ice cream lovers in Manhattan. But, they wouldn’t want it any other way. To them, it’s more than just churning ice cream, it’s all about making new friends, inventing unheard-of-flavors and creating a product with lots of “TLC”… And you gotta admit, we all do scream a little bit for ice cream, no?
